Shelly Thomas is the founder of Enhancing Young Minds, Inc., established in 2021 with a mission to empower young learners through personalized education. Shelly's journey in education began at Michigan State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (K-5) and later pursued a Master’s degree in Reading from Wayne State University.

Shelly's teaching career spans a diverse range of experiences and grade levels. She commenced her career with Detroit Public Schools, dedicating herself to nurturing the academic growth of 4th, 6th, and 7th grade students. Transitioning to Southfield Public Schools after five years, Shelly continued her impactful journey by teaching 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades, showcasing her versatility and dedication to educational excellence.

Recognized for her exceptional commitment to students and education, Shelly was honored with the Distinguished Service Award by the PTA, highlighting her exemplary contributions to school and community. Her proactive involvement includes spearheading initiatives such as writing the School Improvement Plan, conducting Professional Development sessions for peers, and organizing Title 1 Reading Workshops to engage parents in their children’s literacy development.

In 2023, Shelly Thomas was named the recipient of the DAPCEP Real McCoy Award, further acknowledging her outstanding achievements and impact in education.
